In the NHL draft, more WHL players are selected each year than any other league in the world. (Currently, 20% of all NHL players are WHL graduates.) The WHL awards more post-secondary scholarships each year than any other league in North America. (Each year, more than 400 whL players and graduates are recipients of the WHL Scholarship.) The WHL experience provides players with the best opportunity to improve their game with excellent coaching and coaching facilities combined with a highly competitive schedule. The WHL offers an ideal and balanced environment that allows a player to reach the top of the class…. on and off the ice. The educational advisor of each WHL club and the director of education services of the WHL monitor the academic progress of all players throughout the season. While playing in the WHL, players receive financial assistance for education expenses such as high school remedial courses or post-secondary courses to ensure that players reach their academic potential. The Western Hockey League is still considered one of the best development leagues in the world. For young western hockey players, the WHL offers one of the best environments to develop. The WHL is recognized worldwide as a leader in player development for youth perspectives and offers players the opportunity to reach their full potential. Once a player has been selected in the whL bantam draft, the WHL Club will immediately contact the family. The player then has the opportunity to visit the rookie or main training camp of the WHL club before returning to play for his club team in the minor hockey system. The camp experience gives the player and his family the opportunity to discover the city and the facilities of his WHL club and to meet teammates and members of the organization.

It also gives the player the opportunity to evaluate the level of play in the WHL. For each season a player plays in the WHL, he or she receives a guaranteed year-round scholarship, including teaching, textbooks and mandatory fees, at a post-secondary institution of their choice. For example, players with four years of WHL careers can receive four-year scholarships. Players who are in Alberta, BC, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Alaska, Arizona, California, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming are protected for the WHL and can be set up by WHL clubs through regular lists.
